Back to school is just around the corner and the holidays are slowly coming to an end: the opportunity for you to start the new season on the right foot by carrying out some small renovation work at home! Through this publication, we explain how to improve your daily life and rethink your space, to live better there.
You will quickly realize that it is not necessary to be a perfect handyman: knowing how to use common sense is very often enough to transform your daily life positively!
What if you were thinking about refreshment work?
Very often, a simple brushstroke is enough to transform a room and restore its former glory. This applies to absolutely every room in your home, from the kitchen to the bedroom.
If you are considering remodeling your home, think first and foremost about the wall and floor coverings – especially if the coverings in question are more than 10 years old!
Such an initiative on your part will help to freshen up this room, but will also allow you to see things differently! Perhaps the time has come for you to consider this room, which formerly served as a storage room, into an authentic office that you will enjoy reinvesting!
To achieve your objective, two solutions are available to you:
1 – Carry out the renovation of your living room yourself : in this case, do not hesitate to consult all the specialized sites and blogs that you find on the issue. Take notes on what appeals to you in terms of shades, colors and decoration. Then, little by little, approach your favorite DIY store to purchase the necessary materials and equipment. Don’t hesitate to ask any possible questions to a department manager before you start, and above all: take your time!
2 – Call on a decoration specialist or go through a specialized brand in order to limit the risks and enter into contact with the best local artisans : in this way, you will obtain a professional result and in full compliance with your expectations. Obviously, this solution requires that you set aside a budget, sometimes substantial. It all depends on the volume of the room and the nature of the renovation work.

Before proceeding with the work, you will probably need to remove your furniture from the room. If you want to redo the floors, consider the solution of glides to move them more easily from one room to another. Prepare another living room to accommodate assembled or dismantled furniture.
To redo the painting and in the worst case scenario, you always have the option of covering your furniture with a protective veil. Then arrange them in the center of the room so that the craftsmen can move around freely. The best is still to place them temporarily in a storage space.
Change the function of your living rooms
When we have space at home, we often tend to choose a room in the house to gradually store all of the family's belongings. A room that was then intended to become an office or a guest bedroom then becomes a real storage room! This situation can quickly degenerate, to the point that it becomes extremely difficult to return to the original function of this room in the house.
Faced with this, you don't have many alternatives: you'll have to sort through your things!
1 – If the room contains a lot of your paper archives, it may be useful to buy a few storage boxes in order to carry out an initial sorting between: papers to throw away, papers to classify and papers for which you are still undecided.
2 – If you express a particular need (need to have a personal office, a living space for reading and rest, etc.), start to imagine how you want to arrange the room. Don't immediately think about occupying each wall with a piece of furniture or a bookcase, but think about what you really need. Think in practical and functional terms, then proceed to the decoration (a houseplant, a few decorative objects placed on a shelf, a framed poster and that's it!).
Of course, it is not always easy to “modify” the nature of a room, especially if the room in question is located below the roof or the surface area is reduced. In this case, do not hesitate to call on the services of a home-staging specialist, who will give you the best possible advice.
Learn how to properly insulate your attic and create a new space!
If you own a house, you probably have unfinished “attics” available. These attics are not completely useless: they generally have the function of protecting you against temperature variations coming from the outside. This space is located under the roof, and we rarely think about fitting it out.
However, in certain cases, this space can easily accommodate a new living room which can serve as a rest or relaxation space. Hence the importance of properly insulating the attic: you don't really want to be cold in this part of the house!

However, before proceeding, you will want to check a few points:
1 – Check the type and structure of the frame of your house: in fact, the constituent elements of the frame will determine the type of insulation that you will have to use for the attic.
2 – Remember to also check the angle of inclination of the roof: this data allows you to better understand the height available in the attic. Please note in any case that the minimum height for calculating the living space is 1.80m.
3 – Check the condition of the structure: in fact, certain wood-eating insects can attack wood. Plan to use appropriate treatment and, if necessary, consolidate or replace damaged elements.
4 – Check the condition of the floor: if you want to create a new living room in this part of the house, it would be in your best interest to support the weight of any furniture you place there! The floor can thus be reinforced, with an OSB floor or floor panels (which are particularly resistant and rigid strips which do not deform easily).
To make your life easier during your development work, you always have the option of renting storage space for the time necessary for completion. This way, you will have the space you need to work, you or your craftsmen, in complete peace of mind.
And don’t forget the annual maintenance of your heating system! You can call a plumber in Paris to carry out this necessary review for your home insurance
